Information Systems Management

Jetta takes the view that information technology (IT) provides us with the power not only to “automate”, but also to “informate” and then to “transformate”. “Automate” means to replace the human body with a technology that enables the same processes to be performed with more continuity and control. “Informate” means IT generates information (about the underlying processes), which, when presented in a particular manner and at an appropriate time, improves the knowledge (understanding) of the person receiving it in such a way that the person is able to undertake a required action or make a required decision. “Transformate” means to redefine the scope of the business with new, information-based products and services.

To contribute towards realizing our vision “…to be innovative and adopt new technologies; we learn, grow and improve continuously.” , Jetta has been making great investment in applying IT technology to improve operation efficiency. Some of the core systems are listed as below:

ERP System

Nowadays, no one will doubt that a powerful platform and reliable ERP system is an essential. Jetta started its MRP system implementation in 1992. Up to now, our system is simultaneously supporting five operating sites, and over thousand concurrent users.

Also, matching up the enterprise development growth, our ERP system achieved several innovations whatever in technical or process flow. Now we have already covered a wide range of functions. All production and resource planning, forecasting, decision-making, supply chain management, inventory logistic movement, shipment schedule, customer service, and accounting ledger were well integrated into one unified database.

Moreover, real-time and automation are the features of our daily operation. It not only simplifies the work flow, but also highly increases the accuracy and efficiency by reflecting the immediate inventory status and production progress.

Besides, tending to the commercial activities need, our data warehouses are not only supporting internal organizations, but also collaborating with many external business partners (our customers and suppliers) through electronic data interchange(EDI).

Supplier Collaboration System

Operating with its original manual procedure for purchase orders release and acknowledgement, Jetta was using the fax system to send order to suppliers and receive acknowledgement from suppliers, which again led to the usual problems. Transmission is slow, orders can be inaccurate and increasing the possibility for mistakes.

In 2005 these faxed orders were replaced with in-house developed web based Supplier Collaboration System (SCS). This system acts as a platform for communication between Jetta and suppliers, it allows Jetta to place PO, suppliers to receive and confirm PO in an effective and efficient way. The result of process also integrated to ERP system. Besides, it also provides an email reminder to suppliers for processing new orders. Currently, 90% of orders are released and acknowledged through this system.

The adoption of Supplier Collaboration System (SCS) has improved our delivery rate and enforcement of Just-In-Time deliveries and has also reduced the entire cost of the ordering process. As a result all human error and fax problems are eliminated and overall administration overheads are reduced substantially.

Plastic Molding Production Monitoring

Jetta has developed a part of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) - IMS, which able to collect real time plastic molding production data including production and scrap quantity and change the data into useful information for managerial staffs. Employing this system can create real-time visibility and control within the production processes.

IMS system includes various functions, which are listed as below:

  • Real time production data collection
  • Shop order status monitoring
  • Online production status monitoring
  • Alert system in case of exceptional events, e.g. machine break down
  • Integrated with ERP system to exchange data

The above functions help operating users relieved from data entry of shop order and production quantity, help department supervisors better and timely understand production status, as well as help top management know well in production performance and focus on achieving manufacturing excellence.
